1. Who is responsible

MrShipton is an English grammar trainer for upper-secondary students in Sweden, run by Mickael at droopy.se (the "service", "we"). For accounts people create on their own, we are the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). When a school uses MrShipton with its classes, the school is the controller for the class data and we process it on the school's behalf. Contact: mrshipton@droopy.se.

2. What we collect

  • Account: name, e-mail address, role (student or teacher), a hashed password (we never store the password itself) or, if you sign in with Google, your Google account id.
  • Settings: your course level (for example GY25 English level 2) and your language-support choice.
  • Practice data: the answers you give, whether they were correct, hints used, and the grammar profile we calculate from them.
  • Classes: which classes you have joined, assignments, and – for teachers – the classes you created.
  • Feedback you choose to send through the feedback button.
  • E-mails we send: only messages about your account, such as the warning before an inactive account is deleted. No newsletters or marketing.
  • Technical data: a session cookie to keep you signed in. Our web server may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address) for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect ID numbers (personnummer), we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or tracking cookies.

3. Sign-in with Google

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells us your name, e-mail address and a Google account id. We use them only to create and sign in to your MrShipton account. We do not get access to your Google Drive, Gmail or other Google data. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Why we use it (legal basis)

  • To provide the service you signed up for – practice, feedback and your grammar profile (performance of a contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To let teachers follow their classes, when you join a class (on the school's behalf, normally public interest in education, art. 6(1)(e)).
  • To keep the service secure and to improve exercises (legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f)).

5. Anonymous statistics

To learn what students at each course level find easy or hard, we save a copy of each answer without any link to a person: course level, grammar area, error type, whether it was correct, hints used and the week – but no name, e-mail, account, class, session or exact time. Results are only shown for groups of at least 20 answers. Because these records cannot be connected to you, they are not personal data and remain if your account is deleted.

6. Who can see your data

  • You.
  • Teachers of the classes you have joined: your answers, progress and grammar profile in those classes.
  • The administrator of the service, only to run and support it.

We never sell or share personal data for marketing.

7. Where data is stored

Data is stored on our own servers in Sweden. Google handles the sign-in step only if you use Google sign-in. We do not currently use any AI service to process your answers. If we add features that send text to an external service, we will update this policy before they are used.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account and practice data: until you delete your account (or the school removes it).
  • Sign-in sessions: expire after 30 days.
  • Accounts that have not been used for 24 months are deleted. We e-mail you 30 days before, and signing in once is enough to keep the account.
  • Anonymous statistics (section 5) are kept, because they cannot be linked to you.

9. Your rights

You can see your data in the app, download it (Settings → Download my data) and delete your account (Settings → Delete my account). If you are in a class, the school manages that data – ask your teacher or school to have it deleted. You may also ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction or to object, by writing to mrshipton@droopy.se. You have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.

10. Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary: one that keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one that remembers where to send you after signing in. No consent banner is needed for these.

11. Who the service is for

MrShipton is meant for upper-secondary students and their teachers.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above, and we tell users in the app about important changes. See also our terms of service.
